Biography
My name is Pamela Yee, and I’m running for Abbotsford School Trustee.
Next year, my daughter will walk into her Kindergarten classroom for the first time. As a parent, I want her to have an education that helps her grow into a confident, capable and compassionate person. I want her to feel safe at school, to be excited to learn, to know that she belongs, and to have teachers and staff who have the support they need to help her succeed.
And I want the same for every child in Abbotsford.
I am also a certified BC teacher, and from 2005 to 2017, I taught both locally and internationally. I have seen firsthand that great teachers can make an enormous difference in a child’s life – but I have also seen how difficult it can be for teachers to do their best work when they don’t have the resources, time, support or working conditions they need.
I want to bring both an educator’s experience and a parent’s perspective to the Board. That combination is why I’m running.
I don’t believe a trustee needs to have all the answers. I believe a good trustee needs to listen, ask thoughtful questions, understand the realities facing students and staff, look carefully at the evidence, and make responsible decisions on behalf of the entire community, including parents, teachers and students.
My goal is to be that kind of trustee.
My name is Pamela Yee. Thank you for your time.
Reason for running
Families need to be heard.
Students need to feel safe, included and prepared for their futures.
I’m running because I believe what happens in the classroom matters.
If given the opportunity to serve, I will listen, ask questions, and bring both perspectives as an educator and a parent to every decision because at the end of the day, our schools are about our children.
I respectfully ask for your vote on Oct. 17.
My name is Pamela Yee. Thank you.
