Harpreet is a registered health and safety professional and a devoted family member. Renowned for his ability to build strong workplace relationships, Harpreet earns high respect from both employers and employees.

During his early years in Canada, Harpreet balanced parenting his 2-year-old daughter with various jobs, including farm labor and pizza delivery, while his wife pursued full-time studies in Dental Hygiene. Harpreet and his wife, Jade, who has been his best friend and unwavering support since their college days in 1991, have called Okanagan home since 2016. Together, they are raising two wonderful children: their daughter Jaysheen, currently in her third year at UBC Vancouver, and their son Sermour, who is in Grade 8. Harpreet was raised by his 88-year-old mother, who is physically disabled and lives with them in their home.

Grateful to live in the stunning Kelowna-Mission area, Harpreet is deeply connected to the community, filled with love, hope, and kindness. He is acutely aware of the region's complex challenges and is committed to working alongside everyone to address local issues. Guided by his Sikh faith, Harpreet embraces the principle of Sewa, or selfless service, and is devoted to dedicating his life to public service. Driven by a profound love for humanity, he believes in the power of dialogue to resolve problems and connect with people from all walks of life.

Eager to work with Jagmeet Singh’s NDP team, Harpreet is focused on making sure that essential services are readily available to everyone. He also aims to help the region develop new strategies for long-term, sustainable economic growth, all while remaining attentive to the needs and aspirations of the community. Listening, learning, and gathering feedback are central to his approach, and Harpreet is always engaged with the people to ensure their voices are heard.

A highly qualified professional, Harpreet holds an M.Sc. in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene from the University of British Columbia (2011), and an M.Sc. in Botany from 1996, after which he spent several years as a Botany professor outside Canada. Since 2016, he has worked as an Officer with WorkSafeBC, and previously led professional teams with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety in Saskatchewan.

Harpreet is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) through the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and a Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) with the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists. He is also a Federal Inspector of Hazardous Materials and received law enforcement training at the RCMP Centre in Regina. A distinguished expert in worker health protection, Harpreet is known for his ability to find solutions and make a meaningful impact.
