Biography
Born and raised as a third generation East Vancouver resident, Mark Wiens has spent his life building community and showing up for others. A dedicated family man and grassroots leader, Mark has long been involved in local multicultural and community organizations—supporting newcomers, youth, and families across the neighbourhoods he’s always called home.
Mark understands the real challenges people in Vancouver East are facing: the cost of living, rising inequality, and a housing system that too often works against those who need it most. That’s why he’s running—to help build a fairer, more affordable, and more hopeful future for everyone.
Before stepping forward to serve as your Liberal candidate, Mark spent years helping families—especially first-time buyers, seniors, and newcomers—navigate Vancouver’s complex and often unjust housing market. He’s seen firsthand how broken the system is and how urgently we need change. Mark didn’t get into real estate to profit—he did it to help people find stability and security in their own communities.
He earned the industry’s highest level of licensing to better advocate for those who are too often overlooked. Today, as a Director at Greater Vancouver Realtors, he works to hold the profession to higher standards, pushing for more transparency, accountability, and people-first practices. For Mark, housing isn’t about wealth—it’s about dignity, fairness, and the right to a safe place to call home.
Mark’s journey has always been rooted in hard work. Before entering real estate, he owned and operated a small landscape maintenance company that employed local staff and supported local families. He knows what it’s like to build something from the ground up—and how much stronger we are when we support one another.
To better connect with communities around him, Mark began studying Mandarin Chinese at university and continues to build on his language skills today. It’s just one example of his belief that real leadership means listening, learning, and standing alongside people—not speaking over them.
In his free time, Mark loves spending time with his wife, their two young boys, and their two beloved corgis. His family has the same hopes and worries shared by so many others across Vancouver East.
Now, he’s ready to take his experience, his compassion, and his commitment to community to Ottawa—as your next Member of Parliament for Vancouver East.
