Biography

Scot Davidson is a former small business owner and entrepreneur, and the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for New Tecumseth-Gwillimbury.

He has represented the communities of Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury, and Georgina as the Member of Parliament for York-Simcoe since 2019 and was re-elected in the 2019 and 2021 general elections.

​Under the leadership of Pierre Poilievre, Scot has served as the Official Opposition Shadow Minister for Red Tape Reduction. In his role as a Member of Parliament, Scot has advocated for policies that reduces regulatory burdens on businesses, lowers taxes for families, protects the environment, and improves life for rural and suburban communities.

In December 2024, Scot was successful in getting his Private Member’s Bill C-280 passed into law, which establishes financial protections for Canada’s fresh fruit and vegetable growers, ensuring they are paid for the produce they grow.

Living and working within the farming and lakefront community for his entire life, Scot is committed to supporting small businesses and protecting the health of the Lake Simcoe watershed. ​ Scot has a keen interest in the outdoors and enjoys golfing, fishing and piloting small aircraft.

​Scot has a degree in economics from York University. His wife Suzanne is a member of Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation, and his son Graydon is a fully-qualified firefighter with the Chippewas of Georgina Island Fire Department.
