My name is Wayne Chechuevskiy, and I am running to be your Green Party candidate for Eglinton-Lawrence. I believe our community deserves strong, independent leadership that puts people first, not political insiders. As a young candidate, I am stepping up to bring fresh energy, bold ideas, and a commitment to real change.
I have always been passionate about sustainability, community resilience, and standing up for what is right. As President of O.C.E.A.N.S., I led efforts to clean Ontario’s lakes, local ponds, and parks while educating others on the importance of protecting our environment. I have volunteered with the Cleanup Society, where my team removed over 125 kg of waste from public spaces, and I have worked with residents at Fudger House Long-Term Care, giving back to those who came before us.
Beyond my community work, I have built leadership and teamwork skills through my service as an Infantry member with the Canadian Armed Forces, where I learned discipline, resilience, and what it means to serve others. I have also worked as a poll clerk for Ontario Elections, helping ensure the integrity of our democratic process, and as a Copy Centre Representative at Staples, where I learned the importance of customer service and problem-solving.
I am running because I refuse to sit back while our generation struggles with unaffordable housing, skyrocketing tuition, and an economy that no longer works for us. I want to cut red tape for EV infrastructure, support urban farming to promote food independence, and address the growing homelessness and drug crisis in our community. We cannot afford more of the same from career politicians who put their parties before the people they serve.
I am here to fight for grassroots democracy, real representation, and a better future for all of us. If elected, I will work every day to build a community where young people can thrive, where families feel secure, and where sustainability is more than just a political promise.
For a future bright, we’ll do what’s right.
