Sidney has worked to promote, and defend, human rights and gender equity with volunteer organizations such as Doctors Without Borders. In countries that many of our friends and neighbours in Canada originally hail from, she had stood up for vulnerable people. These experiences have given her a deep appreciation of the value of cultural diversity, and an understanding of the challenges faced by new immigrants, refugees, and all working people.
