Artificial Intelligence & Data Centres

I oppose all new data centres in Saanich as water and power are already exspensive enough let alone the enviromental impacts.

Business Permitting

Creat an expedited approvals process for small projects and local businesses.

Biography

I am a University of Victoria Computer Science student, environmentalist, urbanist, and long-time Saanich resident. I’m dedicated to bringing a fresh, practical perspective to the Saanich Council. My candidacy is rooted in the lived realities of our district.

I am Noah Fruttarol, a Computer Science student at the University of Victoria and a long-time resident of Saanich. I’ve lived in this community for almost my entire adult life, and like many of my neighbors, I know firsthand the challenges of the current housing and transportation landscape.

My journey hasn't been a straight line. I’ve experienced the realities of commuting from Sooke to UVic via public transit, the stress of hunting for housing with multiple roommates, and the financial pressure that many of us feel today. These experiences and my desire to be a force for good are driving my decision to run for Council. I am running because I believe that with forward-thinking, proactive planning, and data-driven solutions, we can make Saanich a place that works for everyone.

My career has been built on a foundation of hard work, adaptability, giving back, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

  1. Leadership: I spent four years working in the service industry rising from a crew member to a Manager. It was here that I learned how to manage tight timelines, solve interpersonal problems, deal with customer issues, and work to elevate the people around me.
  2. Teaching & Mentorship: As a Teaching Assistant and Lab Instructor at UVic, and a Youth STEM Instructor with Science Venture, I’ve honed the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. I love helping others reach their full potential, a skill I hope to bring to the Council table.
  3. Technical Problem Solving: Most recently, I have worked as a Software Developer and Data Scientist, supporting climate model development at Environment and Climate Change Canada. My professional work has taught me how to analyze data, automate inefficiencies, and find pragmatic solutions to large-scale challenges.

Reason for running

I have always had the drive to contribute to something bigger than myself and am committed progressing toward a more livable, accessible, and affordable community.

I have always had the drive to contribute to something bigger than myself and I believe public service is one of the best ways to do that. I am also running because to me, this election is a pivotal moment for Saanich, and I am committed to protecting the progress we’ve made toward a more livable, accessible, and affordable community. Finally I feel like students and young people like myself are often not well represented in politics and with that our voices are lost. I will work to make sure everyone who calls Saanich home has a seat at the table, especially students and young professionals who have been disillusioned.
