Laurie Guerra has proudly called Surrey home for 31 years, where she and her husband raised their five adult children in Fleetwood. As a successful small business owner with both local and international experience, Laurie understands the importance of responsible financial management, supporting local businesses and ensuring taxpayer dollars are invested wisely. Throughout her term on Council, she was a strong advocate for sound fiscal management while helping deliver major infrastructure investments, including two new ice sheets for Cloverdale and the extension of SkyTrain to Fleetwood, Clayton Heights and Cloverdale.

Laurie has dedicated decades of volunteer service to strengthen Surrey's community. Following her son's autism diagnosis 25 years ago, she became a passionate advocate for families living with autism, serving as a Director of the Autism Society of British Columbia, Chair of its Community Networking Committee, President of Autism BC and facilitator of the Surrey Parent Support Group. Alongside her sister, Laurie also helped care for her aging parents (her father passed away in 2023 at age 93, and her mother passed away in December 2025 at age 96), giving her firsthand understanding of the challenges facing seniors, caregivers and families across Surrey.

While serving on Surrey City Council, Laurie played an important role in delivering Safe Surrey Coalition's commitments to cancel the LRT, advance SkyTrain and establish Surrey's local police service. She continues to support the expansion of Surrey's SkyTrain to Clayton Heights as construction progresses and remains committed to building safe communities, investing in public infrastructure and ensuring Surrey continues to be one of Canada's best places to live, work and raise a family.
