Pavel Smolko is the People's Party of Canada candidate for the Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound riding. Born in Slovakia during the communist era, Pavel experienced firsthand the realities of living under an authoritarian regime. Following the Velvet Revolution of 1989, amid uncertain times for his family, he made the decision to immigrate to Canada in pursuit of greater freedom.

Pavel holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. After moving to Canada, he built a successful career at Magna International in Ontario. Now retired, he remains actively engaged in politics, continuing his lifelong commitment to defending democratic principles. Pavel strongly believes in the fundamental importance of government that is both accountable to and operated for the benefit of its citizens.
