Biography
I am Christine Kruger, I am a married mother of 3. I've lived in Chilliwack since 1997. I consider myself a lifelong public servant as I have been supporting children, youth and families as a social worker for 35 years. The bulk of that work has been in Chilliwack. I work for MCFD and have spent the last 15 years in adoption. I have also worked with foster care providers, child protective services and a highlight was when, for 3 years I was seconded to Xyolhemeylh Child and Family Services. Due to the breadth and depth of my work in and for the communities, I think I can bring a lens of the vulnerable and struggling in Chilliwack. Through my time in Government, I have learned the value of compromise and the art of empathetic listening. On a daily basis, I address complex issues, work within budgets and use creative and pragmatic problem solving skills.
Our 3 children attend(ed) public school system and had varying support needs. Between that experience and navigating struggles and successes with the families I serve, I have seen the value in public education. I will be a listening ear for families and educators and their "voice at the table" for decisions affecting the children/youth in our city.
I have 16 years of experience supervising and managing staff with many transferable skills to a Trustee position: hiring, navigating performance issues, balancing a heavy workload with competing demands.
If elected, you can count on me to be a person who listens to educators and families. I will focus on the growth of Chilliwack, safe learning environments, and student success. I hope I can earn your vote.
