Felicia Zhu

Show up. Stay engaged. Do the work.

Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
I’ve called West Vancouver home for the past 14 years, where my husband and I raised our two children, now 16 and 19. I graduated from Oxford with a Master’s in Education. I’m happiest with a good book, in the pool, on the pickleball court, or hiking with family and friends.

Fourteen years ago, I chose to make West Vancouver home, drawn in large part by its exceptional public education. My husband and I have since raised our two children here.

Four years ago, voters across West Vancouver, Bowen Island, and Lions Bay elected me to the School Board. I remain grateful for that opportunity and have made it a priority to show up, stay engaged, and do the work.

Throughout my first term, I have attended every Board business meeting, always well prepared and ready to contribute. I have served on all major Board committees—including HR, Finance & Facilities, and Audit—gaining a practical understanding of our district’s governance and operations. I have also made it a priority to attend signature events at our schools and stay connected with our students and staff.

I take pride in being accessible to families. Parents regularly reach out with questions and concerns. I listen closely, respond thoughtfully, bring their perspectives to the Board table, and help find a way forward.

It has been an honour to serve our community over the past four years. I ask for your support to continue this work as your School Trustee for another term.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
Education has been a big part of my life. I’m an educator by background, and both of my children grew up in our public schools. I belive in the power of education to change lives and shape the world.

For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a School Trustee. I’ve attended every Board business meeting and served on its major committees, including Human Resources, Finance & Facilities, and Audit, which has given me a deeper understanding of our district and the responsibility that comes with this role.

Three of my fellow trustees are stepping down after years of dedicated service. I’m seeking another term because I want to help carry their good work forward and bring some continuity to the new Board. I’m excited about the fresh perspectives new trustees will bring. I hope my experience—and the way I work: showing up prepared, listening carefully, and working with others—can help the new Board get off to a strong start.
